The game is essentially a shot-for-shot remake of the original System Shock with enhanced graphics, updated controls, and a completely new interface. The game has allegedly been playable from start to finish since 2022 according to Nightdive but the studio stated their intention to release the game in the best state possible.
The System Shock remake started as a Kickstarter project in 2016 and has been subject to several delays. The studio has spoken publically about its high standards for the game and it looks like it’s finally at a stage where it can meet player expectations. Delays are no strangers to us at this stage but the possibility of a later release date was always niggling at the back of our minds. There was a fair amount of disappointment earlier in the year when Nightdive announced that the PC release date of System Shoch would be pushed back from March to May.
